Bus safety is dependent not only upon the bus drivers and students, but also upon fellow drivers on the road! According to PennDOT, 1.5 million children are transported on Pennsylvania roads each day, and at LASD, there are typically 50+ students riding a bus with one driver. To add to that stress, the driver has to also pay attention to YOU on the road!
Do your part in making their job easier- pay extra attention when driving before and after school hours, and obey the traffic laws regarding school buses. If you don't, you could receive a penalty.
Penalties for passing a school bus with red lights flashing and stop arm activated include:
-CRIMINAL: 60-day driver's license suspension, five (5) points on your driving record, and a $250 fine for citations issued by law enforcement.
-CIVIL: $300 fine when issued a violation.
Our children's safety is in YOUR hands. Do your part.
Thank you.
