A note about American Education Week from Dr. Mitzel, Superintendent of Schools:

In 1921, the NEA (National Education Association) and American Legion worked together to recognize educators and raise public awareness about the importance of education. For the past 103 years, those involved in public education have been celebrated for their dedication to the teaching profession. Please take a moment this week to recognize and celebrate our teachers and all who work to provide the best possible experiences for our students.

A valuable part of the work educators do relies on the partnerships developed and maintained with parents, who place their trust in us and support their children's education. Lastly, we recognize our student body, specifically because they are the reason this district exists. Without students, none of us would be here right now. During American Education week, we celebrate all those who are involved and support public education. Thank you to all who work for the students’ best interest.

We are blessed with the best teachers and staff around! Happy American Education Week to everyone at LASD making a difference for our students and community!
