Bus Safety Week is off to an awesome start! This week drivers and office staff are taking time to visit their K-2 students in their classrooms to read a book named, "Manners on the School Bus" and answer any questions students might have about buses and vans. Both the students and the drivers are enjoying this special treat.

Ms. Rhonda Rose is our October Staff Spotlight - Ms. Rose was recognized at our School Board Meeting on October 10th. Rhonda has been at LASD for 13 years but has worked for the LIU since 1983. She is currently working at Maple Avenue Middle School in the Multiple Disabilities Support Classroom (MDS). She worked at Rolling Acres, Alloway Creek, and now MAMS. She currently has 4 students and one assistant. She has worked with MDS students who have been home-bound, in treatment facilities, hospitals, group homes, and in the classroom. She gives the PASA test to 1% of students with significant intellectual disabilities. The PASA shows the performance level of students and adjusts questions to their ability. Rhonda has been in education for 36 years. She plans to retire at the end of this school year, and walk down the aisle with one of her students graduating this year! She has an extraordinary gift and the patience of a saint. LASD is so fortunate to have her as part of our staff and she will be missed after her retirement! Thank you Rhonda Rose for your service!

Good Morning Bolts Families, This is an informational message from Littlestown ASD Transportation Office. As the mornings are growing darker, we want to remind families to make sure your mailbox numbers are clearly marked and legible from the street. Though your regular driver knows where your stop is, having clearly numbered mailboxes will help a sub bus driver who is not familiar with your stop. Green reflective street number signs are available from the Alpha Fire Company for $10/each - these will also help Emergency Vehicles find you home in the event of an emergency. Some drivers, especially on the outskirts of town, ask their HS/MS students to hold a small flashlight facing downward, while waiting for the bus. Many of our rural roads are not well lit and it is very difficult to see students waiting for their buses. We want to remind students not to wait in the road, but on sidewalks or near the end of driveways and to watch the driver for boarding signals. Drivers will not be looking for students waiting inside homes or vehicles, so please make sure that your student is outside waiting for the bus to arrive. Thank you for your continued support of our bus and van drivers. Our goal is to safely get our students from home to school and back home again.
